Want Discount Air Filters That Really Work? Our Top Pick
Air filters can be extremely expensive. If you’re looking to install an air filter on a budget, look no further than our guide to discount air filters.
Everyone deserves clean air to breathe. However, sometimes our air isn’t as clean as we’d like it to be due to issues that are out of our control.
In 2016, the WHO said that 92% of people on the planet breathed polluted air. Its newer air quality data puts the figure at 99%.
If you live in a big city, vehicles pollute the environment with their exhausts.
Living in an apartment can also cause issues. Sometimes the cooking odors from other kitchens intrude into yours.
Maybe you live in the country, but you’re near a factory or a farm that at times smells less than desirable.
No matter your living conditions, there are pollutants that will creep into your environment.
One great way to make an impact on your air quality is to ensure that you have good air filters.
I know that these can add an extra expense to your pocket book. That’s why I’ve researched and picked the best discount air filter for your home!
Read below for all of the ins and outs of my pick for the best cheap air filter.
The Method
What do we want in a cheap air filter?
We want something that can take care of not only the big particles and dust that we see with the naked eye, but also odors and the smaller particles that pass by unnoticed.
Air purifiers need to work quietly in the background and last a long time. You need to be able to swap the filters with ease when it’s time for them to retire.
A unit that makes very little noise is perfect. Additional positive features include occasional filter change outs, and low energy consumption.
AC4825 3-in-1 Air Cleaning System
This is one powerhouse of a purifier, without the price tag you’d expect!
The AC4825 3 in 1 Air Cleaning System combines a HEPA filter, a UV-C light, and a charcoal filter.
HEPA filters trap fine particles such as dust, pet dander, pollen and mold spores. The EPA notes that portable HEPA cleaners have shown modest benefits for some allergy and asthma symptoms.
The UV-C light is marketed to help reduce germs. The EPA says UV lights without adequate coatings may give off ozone, a lung irritant, so check the model’s ozone rating.
The charcoal filter can help reduce some odors from pets, smoking and cooking. Activated carbon works best in larger amounts, so a thin pre-filter won’t remove every smell.
No filter fixes a mold problem; you still need to fix the moisture source.
The tower has 3 speeds, and is best used in rooms up to about medium size.
It’s easily moved around. That means it can purify air wherever you and your family are spending the most time and can be shifted as necessary.
Pros And Cons
The biggest pro of this discount air purifier is its 3 in 1 design.
Some of the air purifiers out there are specifically made to catch only a select few allergen triggers. Some don’t even begin to have an effect on the strong or harsh odors in a household.
You’d have to buy 2 or even 3 different housing units for each individual filter. In the GermGuardian you’re getting complete air purification in one simple tower.
The replacement filters aren’t expensive, so you won’t break the bank keeping on top of replacements.
Replace the filter as often as the manufacturer recommends; a clogged filter cleans less air.
A con of this tower is that you do still have to replace the filter cartridges and keep an eye on how full they are.
None of them are washable, which means that they’re not reusable, which would tend to be more cost efficient.
In Summary
If you’re looking for one solid discount air purifier for a small or medium room, the GermGuardian is a good pick.
Its HEPA filter can help cut airborne allergy triggers at home. If you have asthma or severe allergies, it supports, but does not replace, the treatment plan from your doctor.
You can’t control what people are doing around you, but this is one way that you have some control over your own environment.
The tower has a great design, sleek enough that it won’t stand out like an eyesore in any room.
